Lego is going Back to the Future

Over the past decade, Lego has made a fortune creating sets based on smash hit movies, such as the “Star Wars” and “Harry Potter” franchises. Well, not you can add “Back to the Future” to that prestigious list. The 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox and directed by Robert Zemekis was the highest grossing film of that year. It also spawned two extremely successful sequels. Now this legendary film has been immortalized as only Lego can do it.

The “Back to the Future” set was the fourth item to receive the green light as part of the Lego CUUSOO program. This allows people to create their own Lego concepts and get opinions from the public. If a concept gets 10,000 people to support it, it is reviewed by Lego to possibly become an actual Lego product. If Lego decides to green light a concept for production, the creator will get one percent of the total net sales of the item.

The “Back to the Future” set includes Lego Minifigure versions of Marty McFly, Dr. Emmet ‘Doc’ Brown, the Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor, a time display tile, the Flux Capacitor and of course, the famous DeLorean. Three different versions of the DeLorean can be built with this set. Also included are details about the movies, images and production notes.
